Having clean drinking water is a must for sustaining life here in the United States. After all, the human body is made up of at least 60% water, with each and every bodily process that we have relying on this water for the overall function and health of our bodies as a whole. For many people, even just becoming mildly dehydrated over the course of the day can have quite significant results on our health and happiness as a whole. Of course, we use freshwater for so many other things as well, from growing our food to washing our clothes to cleansing our bodies and more.
Unfortunately, freshwater is far more scarce than the average person might realize, making the need to get clean water and to care for our clean water systems more important than ever. The data that has been gathered on the subject more than backs this up, showing that only around 3% of all of the water on this planet is actually freshwater. In addition to this, an event more scant 1% of the total water on the planet is considered to be safe for human consumption. Unfortunately, dirty water is far too commonplace on a global scale – and even right here in the United States, where so many of us take our fresh and clean water sources for granted far more than we should when instead we should be looking for a clean water solution for this country as well as a clean water solution on a global scale as well.
After all, groundwater contamination is a growing problem here in the United States, one that needs a clean water solution – especially when you consider the fact that groundwater sources alone make up as much as 95% of all drinkable water here in the United States, providing water to at least half of all people living in this country, if not to an even larger population than that. First, of course, it’s important to understand why groundwater contamination remediation and a clean water solution has become so essential in the first place.
The contamination of ground water can happen in a number of different ways, according to the environmental remediation professionals working tirelessly all throughout the country. For one thing, chemical spills contribute quite significantly to overall groundwater pollution – and are likely more common than the average person would ever realize. In fact, up to 16,000 chemical spills will happen in the United States alone over the course of a single year, with much of the runoff from these chemical spills impacting the quality of groundwater the nation over.
The improper disposal of industrial waste products has also increased our country’s need for a clean water solution now more than ever before. Unfortunately, industrial waste is at levels higher than ever before, and nearly three quarters of this industrial waste (around 70% of it, to be just a little bit more specific) will actually wind up dumped into water sources throughout the country. Of course, this impacts the quality of these groundwater sources quite significantly, often rendering them unsafe to drink until groundwater environmental services step in to rectify the problem as much as is possible.
